Jim Walker -Drums/Vocals
Jim is now in his 4th decade in country music.
He started at age 10 in his mom and dad's family band. He playing guitar
at age 7, but found his real passion was being behind the drums. Jim has played
with several bands over the years including Country
Connection, Country Spirit, Whiskey River, Bob Elston and the Road
Rangers. Then in 1985 he joined Borderline Express where he
continued to hone his craft before taking a 14 year hiatus from the
stage.
In addition he has been a radio DJ, promoter and
is currently a television producer at Time Warner Cable.
He was formerly a personality at WKCG_FM in Augusta form 1985-1996. While there he
implemented Maine country music artists into the stations play-list. He
also produced one of the state's premiere country music events The True
Value/GMC Country showdown.
In 2004 Jim returned to the stage with Dirigo
Highway, a place he considers home. He has received numerous awards
including the DECMA Bill Clement award and MCMA Media Personality award.
He also has received DECMA's Horizon and Duet Awards, Band and Vocal
group of the year with Borderline Express. DECMA Traditional Country band
and NACMAI Traditional Band with Dirigo Highway, Rising Star Male Vocalist and Future Star Entertainer of the
Year from DECMA and most recently was awarded NACMAI's Rising Star in
the Male Vocalist category. Jim also currently serves on the board of
the Downeast Country Music Association as Central Maine Director.
