Paul
Martin -Bass/Vocals
Paul is the newest
member of Dirigo Highway. Music has never been a
stranger to Paul and his family as his father and 2
sisters are musicians in their own right. Paul brings a
solid sound and outstanding vocals to the band. He grew
up a rocker at heart listening to Elvis and the Beatles
and credits Paul McCartney and Quiet Riot's Rudy Sarzo
as his early influences. After learning to play on his
father's Trutone guitar Paul received his first bass at
age 14. From there he began to learn a wide variety of
music from Willie Nelson to The Stray Cats. After a 12
year hiatus Paul returned to music and got involved
playing Contemporary Christian music at his church.
During this time he
also began listening to country music and, as he puts it
"came to respect the traditional country that his father
and sisters had played to him as he was growing up."
From that point he added artists such as Vince Gill, Travis Tritt & Garth Brooks to his list of influences
and doesn't rule out that he loves a good Patsy Cline
song. In 2004
he joined the Country Ridge Rockers, where he has been
until joining Dirigo Highway this past April replacing
Jerry Durgin who left the band due to job commitments.
Paul says he is excited to be with DH and has been in
the studio working on current and new material. Make
sure to come up and say hi and make him welcome and the
next DH show.
